Poseidons garden
poseidons garden
I just finished up a project that I thought might be of intrest to you all. I was hired to coordinate the website and print material for the website Poseidons Garden, the print and web both came out better then expected and if you want to be buried at sea for cheap check them out. I know, I know your thinking why not just dump the remains over and move on, well that turns out to be illegal. So do it legit and use an inexpensive service like this one to do it.

It is growing already..
President-elect Barack Obama has confirmed that he will be creating a post of US chief technology officer to oversee the nation’s technological future.
As promised during the campaign the new administration will appoint someone from the technology industry to ensure that the electronic systems government uses are being intelligently designed and run and the technology policies are adhered to.
Wow.. who would of thought that he would inflate the government... Never saw that one coming..

Voting day.
As I prepare myself for today, the day I lose my country to the machine of "Change" the machine that believes that National Health Care and Big Government are what will fix this country.. More government, More government.. Isn't Government what got us in this mess. I am not sure where it began, the financial crisis that is.. but I can tell you what I see from my position. There were some well intending people(government) who made policy that would allow everyone the ability to own a home. Sounds like a great idea right, whats more American and glutenous then if all the population can own a home. You know what.. Screw it.. I don't think you can handle the truth, hopefully our kids don't spit on our graves.
I cried today when I watched this video.. This man can be the change you are looking for and he has been denied that by the Media and by Government and those who like their cushy jobs dictating how we should live our lives. I am sorry I let Ron Paul Down. I am still going to Vote for him anyway, Doesn't matter much since the second video shows how easy rigging elections is..

Wassup - Change
I know that almost all of my friends and family are Barack supporters and all of my customers are McCain supporters. I on the other hand support someone who will not win.. Ron Paul (BTW Ron Paul really would be change) and while Ron Paul and Barack could not be further apart on the political scale. I thought this ad was WAYYYYY too funny not to post.

Plastic logic - I think the world is about to change..
I have for a long time been fan to the idea of getting rid of books.. I hate the waste of trees, space and sheer weight of a good library. I love the idea that I can take EVERY book I own, heck every book in the word with me where ever I go. Along comes the computer, seems like a good fit can store millions of books, pretty light weight (until you try to read a book on it that is), and man is it hard to concentrate on the text of a computer screen for the long periods needed to read an entire book.
Well today I believe I have seen the future..
This new invention looks like it will be a huge step towards what I am looking for, I will need to see battery life on such a thin device, it will need to stay charged for 8 hours minimum, the screen while easy to read should not be too bright as to give me headaches like the computer screen. The type size needs to be big enough for me not to squint and it needs to stay cool in my hand, I don't need third degree burn while trying to read a book or magazine or heck (this thing does it) read office documents off my computer.
All in all, I will be watching this device VERY closely and when it hits stores, I will start reading the reviews. I want one, I want one, I want one.. (as long as it lives up to all of my fantasy expectations that is)

Republocrat - who are you...
With all the political mumbo-jumbo going on lately, I like many of you have been asked where I stood, am I a Dem or a Republican. I was informed that there was really only one right answer. So I thought and thought and what it really boils down to is that I disagree with both parties. The Dems are bunch of wimps and treehuggers, and the republicans with their war mongering, don't fit what I want.. So I decided to turn to the Internet and let the great and all powerful net help me.
I took the below listed partyfinder quiz.. And it looks like I was right, I am Libertarian.. I was and still am a fan of Ron Paul who never had a chance but was a Republican Candidate that spoke exactly what was on my mind... Less government, caring about OUR country and not spending billions on other countries and on and on and on..
Here is a list of the questions that the website asked and these are my answers..

My trip to Egypt...
I look at my bucketlist and I realize now that I am missing some things.. I am missing all the things that I thought would never come true. Walk on the moon, see the great wall of china, climb the tallest mountian, and stand in death valley. The reason they are not on the list is simple, I never expected to do them. I thought I needed to keep my bucketlist obtainable. To see the Great Pyramids in Egypt is on the fantasy list with all the others, until this week, my step-son Kevin P. has given me the opportunity to not only dream of seeing the pyramids but he has made it possible for that dream to come true. Thank you Kevin, Thank you...
Thoughts determine what you want, Actions determine what you get...
The heart break of everyone's dreams is that they never become a reality, all they do is think about them. Because they have a fear if they act on them they may not be able to achieve them. Well I promise if all you do is think about your dreams you will never achieve them. What are you going to do to achieve YOUR dreams.
November 20th I leave for Madrid Spain, Saturday the 22nd I expect to leave Spain for Egypt. I will also be diving the Red Sea if altitude restrictions permit (I am not sure Kevin P. has thought this one out) You cannot fly 24 hours after you dive..

Hmm.. not sure I like this one..
I have an idea.. why not ARREST the bad guys like they do in other cities.. ohhh wait let me guess you have to turn your prisoners back too quick cause of jail over crowding. Let me suggest something... stop buying new cars for your police for a couple of years fix the old ones.. Arrest the thugs, clean the streets and stop treating the citizens like criminals (until they are caught at least)
Lastly.. I think this whole thing goes back to what happens in jail, we need to make jail a little less comfortable. Have you seen other countries jail it is not fun, so we either make it not fun or make it pay for itself. If you (prisoner) don't work... you don't eat. We could have those prisoner working as hard on the inside are we do on the outside to make them happy. TV's - Library - Food - Beds - Rights - Haircuts - Basketball - Social interaction - everything they want we give them or pay for, we take it away and make them actually work for it and I bet we see results.. they will rehabilitate themselves alot faster in my opinion.

Your money or your life...
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you read or hear the words "Your money of your life".. I first thought of a stickup.. being robbed, being robbed of my money. Then I reflected on the phrase a little more, "Your money or your life"... Step away from the phrase for a minute and realize exactly what it means.
Are you doing what you love or are living for money. I see it around me all the time, I see people that live their lives for money. I myself can be accused of living my life for money. I need to think deeper.. what is more important money or my life, what part of my life am I giving up for money.
more on this later..

Are you doing what you are good at?
While reading some other random blog I came across an excellent post, so I am going to repost it and put it in my words.
No matter what your profession how good are you at what you do? World class? National or local level? Are you one of the 2 out of 10 who spend most of their lives doing what they are best at? How can you find out?
Look at the guideline below to see if you are in the 20% or not. The more the activity has the four qualities below the more it indicates strength is in play. And the more our strengths are at play the better we could be at specific activity. So the more you feel the following way the bigger chance is you are good at what you do:
1. You are successful. There are happy customers, solved problems, great presentations. Others are praising you.
2. You can’t wait to do the thing. You prefer it to other stuff. You do it happily for free.
3. Once in it, you are immersed. Deeply in it. Lost track of time…
4. Once finished, the good feeling stays. It remains there.
Those of you who know me can read the above and realize that I am doing what I am good at, I may not be meant to run a buisness but I am supposed to be working on computer systems.
Please watch these three videos and then tell me.. Are these people good at what they do? Are you doing what your good at to this level and if not.. why..

Don't be a chicken..
All his life the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a barnyard chicken. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. And he would thrash his wings and fly a few feet into the air.
Years passed and the eagle grew very old. One day he saw a magnificent bird above him in the cloudless sky. It glided in graceful majesty among the powerful wind currents, with scarcely a beat of its strong golden wings.
The old eagle looked up in awe. "Who's that?" he asked.
"That's the eagle, the king of the birds," said his neighbor. "He belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth-- we're chickens."
So the eagle lived and died a chicken, for that's what he believed he was.

Do you know what having +5 means
Diablo 3 in the making..
I can remember when this game first came out, I was living on Santa Barbra in Cape Coral.. It was a Friday and I had nothing to do for the weekend. (ok ok.. I probably had something I needed to get done but Monica was nice enough to let me play..) So I popped the game into the computer, connected the computer to my TV and didn't get up for 24 hours straight and only reason I got up was because I finished the game.. This game while hack and slash.. is awesome, always cutting edge graphics and amazing story line and super addicting. In some ways I look forward to release date (unknown at current) in other ways I do not. I do not have time to enjoy it, I do not have time for it to consume me. I played Diablo 2 for 6 months - TWICE. I got bored with the game after the first 6 months... then a couple years later played it AGAIN for 6 months.
Ohh the addiction, the sweet sweet addiction..

Nice... food for thought during the next election..
Personally... I respect our troops 100% and support them till the end. But this is out of control. We have gained NOTHING by being in this war, even the Iraqi people are not better off. If you want to bring up the fact that Saddam gassed a bunch of innocents (a long time ago) I would like to point out the number of Iraqi's our smart bombs killed just to "free" the people (one site puts the number around 1.2 million) or remove the WMD's that never existed or squash the al qaeda link that again never existed...
USE this FREAKING money to fix OUR problems, nothing against any Iraqis but last time I check gas was over 4 a gallon (are we not in fighting this war for the second largest oil producing country in the world, you would think we could work out some kind of trade ohhh I don't know freedom from oppression for some cheap gas, perhaps...), unemployment is WAY up and at least 6 people I know are losing their homes or property and going into foreclosure. 1 person I know is not getting the best medical care because he cannot afford it and we spend how much to fight this war.. This is stupid, wake up America!

Savannah...
Well I did it, I made it though the night in a haunted hotel room and... nothing, not a single ghost not even a cold chill in the corner, very uneventful. We did have a great time in the very old city but I never once felt like the place was haunted, I guess I may not be "spiritual" enough or perhaps I offended the ghosts by not being a believer.. who knows.
I will post some pics to this entry when I get my camera out (I think it is still in my car).

Tomorrow I am going to do some filming for one of my friends at a UU church, I am not sure if anyone has ever read my religion blog but I am a person who believes in god, but has no specific religion. This pretty much defines UU or Unitarian Universalist, so when he asked me if I would come watch his sermon and video tape it at a UU church (I already had thought about going) I was more then happy to attend and help him out.
Now on to the camera he gave me to play with and then tape him with.. Holy Cow, this thing is a beast. It cost around 4k and is the type that some movies are filmed on. Amazing camera to say the least. I spent around an hour just watching a movie on how to make it work. Then I messed with the camera another couple of hours trying to get it do what I wanted. Went back to the video and watched some more then come to find out there is one button that tells the camera you have no idea what you are doing (green square) and it then sets the four million options up so that a dummy could get it right.
I will try to post the video that I make from the sermon so you can all have a look at my skills and a peek into the church that has a no rules god.

Man Stabs, Kills 7 in Tokyo Retail District
TOKYO, June 8 -- Screaming as he randomly stabbed shoppers with a hunting knife, a 25-year-old man killed seven people and injured 11 others at lunchtime Sunday in a Tokyo retail district.

For all the gun haters out there.. please realize that guns don't kill people, people kill people. All you are doing by rallying for more gun control is keeping the guns of the hands of the good guys..
I am normally not one to incite controversy, but here is a well put email that would like to share that goes with my feelings on the issue.
Gun Wisdom--The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain.
All else is supplemental. As John Steinbeck once said:
1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.
2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.
4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.
5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why do you carry a .45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.'
6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.
7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.'
8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!
But wait, there's more! I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, Of course it's loaded, it won't work without bullets!' She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into your house?' My reply was, 'No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.' To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.
"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him." -G. K. Chesterton

Coincidence..
Coincidence, While this post is NOT a Coincidence, I read a sign while driving past a church the other day (within the last week or so maybe two) that read Coincidence is God working anonymously, and thought to myself how strange that I read that sign, because my life in the last month or so has been overflowing with coincidence. I chalk it up to "taking time to notice" and separating myself from the daily grind.

2 anchors in 8 feet, 200 feet off the beach from the south end of the wall of rocks.
One cannon on first reef, 150 feet off the beach, from just north of the cabin to 75 yards north of it.
Eleven cannons on the 2nd reef, west side of reef, 300 feet from the beach, seaward of the cabin.
Ballast pile and cannon on the 3rd reef off the cabin.
Main pile covers over an acre, 900 feet off the beach in 21 feet of water about 1200 feet south of the museum.
Most treasure has been found between the 1st and 2nd reefs. Lots of silver coins found beyond the 3rd reef. The McLarty Museum is on the site of the original camp of the survivors of the wreck and was used as a salvage camp for 5 years. It's well worth the $1.00 fee to see the displays and a short video. There is no beach access at the museum.

When salmon attacks...
Since Marie had to close yesterday I was the one responsible for getting the food for the BBQ. So after I took the kids to SunSplash we stopped at Publix to get our supplies. I picked out one 3lb beef brisket, 1 beef bottom round, 3lbs of salmon, and two whole chickens plus other odds and ends.
So I get home and the house is the usual flurry of activity, little dogs running all over the place kids running for the Wii everything in motion. So I set out to put the food away amongst all the chaos (ok I am playing it up so I don't look so bad). Long story short I left the salmon on the kitchen table from 6pm to ohhh I don't know around 10:45. So I stick it in the fridge and hope for the best, this morning I decide to look on the net and figure out exactly what is "safe". Let me tell you something 5 hours above 33degrees is not safe. So to avoid a scene like this
I will have to go to the store again today and get another 3lbs of Salmon, good thing it is on sale.
Speaking of Fresh Salmon.. Super old but still funny an it fits..

The perils of this white man at Sun Splash!
I am off to take my daughter and step daughter to sun splash. My Lucky wife Marie gets to escape the fun by being at work, I on the other hand have to get sun-burnt and fight the masses at the park. I will try to take some pics to upload to the blog later when I get back (if I can still move). After the park I am going to publix to get all the meat and food for the BBQ.
I am leaving late in the day 2:30 but I feel that I will still be burnt to a crisp, good news is that I think most of the crowd will be gone.

Ok I am confused... I am not sure how this is working
OK here is the deal, if you pause the video and restart the video you can see the dancer change directions. This doesn't always happen. I have got her to change directions at times by closing my eyes as well.
One blogger posted that he could get it to change at will if he stared at the shadow at her feet. All I have to say is wild... wild wild.
Description:
The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?
If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.
LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe
RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

One more post for the day! I gotta stop myself...
I have turned into a post junkie. I wonder if there will be support group or a twelve step program for this in a couple of years, or do you get burned out and stop after awhile.
I figure most people run out of things to post (or have lives) and stop after the "newness factor" wear off. But for now I am having fun.
Anyway this post is about a link to a site that I think is worthwhile, while it does have some movies and videos that are pirated (this site only links to other sites). It does also have a bunch of awesome documentaries on it. I (when I am not posting) watch vast amounts of documentaries sometimes they are running in the background while I work but I still gleen some tid-bits of history or higher education from them.
Hope you enjoy and let me know if you watch anything I need to see..

Wii BBQ - Memorial Day
We are having a Wii-BBQ (pronounced weebaque), Monday for Memorial day, I will be making Smoked Salmon, BBQ Chicken and I think I will have a Huge BBQ beef brisket from Sunday waiting for Sandwiches for the earlier part of the day (gotta keep the strength up).
It will be "BYOB" - Bring Your Own Beer (better be enough to last you, unless you plan on going to the store) No free beer here sign will be posted at the door. No hard liquor either Hakan. You know what happens when we start doing shots someone always losses control and does something they regret (well usually they are told the next morning what they regret) but you get the drift. We will have no Pork for our anti-pig crowd. If you have suggestions or ideas for the WII-BBQ please feel free to post your comments.
Time: 12:00 - someone puts out their back (Scott)

Got the Wii Fit..
I went to bed last night a little after Marie, so I didn't want to bother her with setting the Alarm for 6am so I could rush to get a wii-fit.. So instead I told myself that the second the sun hit my eye that I should spring to action.
I am not sure when the sun gets up but at 6:15 I awoke in a cold sweat, muttering to myself "must get fit", "must get fit"... So I leaped from my bed and ran into my daughters room to get her up. I had to get to Target ASAP, so we grabbed some granola bars, threw on our clothes (not in that order) and raced to target.
As you can see we had no real reason to rush, we got to Target around 7am and were in line alone till about 7:30 when the next Wii-Fitter arrived. Then over the next 1/2 hour we were joined by a herd of about 30-40 eager shoppers.
Once inside the walk to the electronics section was awkward to say the least, everyone was walking quickly yet not running. It was very odd feeling, I was first and I had to beat everyone, yet I didn't want to bust into full stride for something I was sure to get.
Now if we only had a WII to go with the WII Fit we would Jamming... We took it out of the box and played with it, but it is quite boring without the game / video to go with it, I think I will put the rocky sound track in and fake it until tomorrow when I get mine in the mail.

Bad day...
Today was a bad day..
First I got off to a late start, I am not sure if anyone really understands how my job works. I sometimes wonder myself. See there is no set schedule except for the occasional meeting or actual appointment. Alot of my calls (jobs) are on the fly, customers call out of the blue and expect me to show within a couple hours. Seems easy enough, well I would love for you to try it once and see how easy it really is.
Ok on with the story, Marie thought that Monica(the ex) was going to be available to watch Becca(daughter) this week so Marie took a normal schedule at work. Which means that she was working almost all days, so I have to take my daughter on all my jobs this week. It has been ok so far, Until....
Today however the problems began, and while you may find humor in them it was a tad lets say, stressful. First we left the house in a hurry and forgot to put the momma dog with the puppies, I will get back to why this is a problem in a minute.
We rush off to our first call for the day everything went smooth, got the customers server back online and promised to return the next day to install a new hard drive for the customer (Raid array with a failed disk). We leave this appointment and have to stop by the office to check on a project that I left one of the techs doing (Internet at the office was down) I get there and told Becca that I would be right out and to wait in the car for a second.
When I got inside I discovered that the tech had fixed the problem and we chatted a little bit and like usual the phone rang, needless to say that second I promised Becca turned into 5 minutes. Since she was getting a little bored, and having decided that I was taking to long, wanted to come in and see what the hold up was. Well bless her heart, she was thinking about the safety of the running car and how it would bad if someone hopped in a took it, so she thought it would be a good idea to lock it up for me (remember it was running). So after the locksmith comes out to let me back in my car. I get back on the road.
This put me out an extra hour and I missed an appointment but I had to smile, grit my teeth and bare it. She was only trying to help and was really worried that I would be upset at what she had done. It is hard to look into those eyes and get mad over an innocent mistake.
Now back to why it is a bad idea to leave your momma puppy at home out of reach of her puppies. When I came home I realized that the fence we use to hold the dogs in was knocked over and all the dogs were all over the house, and there was LARGE patch of carpet missing from under the door to the puppies room. This leads to a HUGH mess (carpet everywhere) and a really upset momma dog.
So moral of the story, start out your day an extra hour early and get your stuff in order before you leave (perhaps maybe I should live more in the present) and keep focused on what I am currently doing.
Hope tomorrow is better..

Who in the world thought that this was a good idea?
What a terrible idea, I mean I understand that they wanted to keep it for buses only but man some of these people get really hurt..

My New Wii... Weeeee
Ok my daughter is in town so I had to break down and get a new console. I have the xbox 360 and a million Dad games for it plus some family games, but the wii (wicked game) is so "family" looking. So last night I found one at Walmart.com (in some huge expensive players ripoff pack) so I bought it. It comes with 4 games and two controllers, (when I broke down the prices I figured out that I am paying 60.00 more then if I would have bought it seperate) but hey its only money.
I started this kick for two reasons.
Reason one: One of my friends pointed out the WIImote and how hackable it is, (sounds like me).
Reason two: Wii-Fit is coming out this week. Wii fit is the workout controller and sudo-workout games that will allow my wife (and me) to go to the gym and not cost a monthly fee. Well ok, that is how I justified it to her. She is always talking about going to the gym and well never does. Maybe if the gym was in the living room she would find her way there. HEY I am not saying anything, she is the one that wants to go, what do you think I am crazy? Sleep on the couch no thank you... I do that enough without commiting myself to that mortal sin of saying she needs to workout.
So I starting looking for places to buy the Wii-Fit, all the online e-tailers are sold out or only saying they will post the item again on the 21st, the offical release day. So me being the curious one, hop over to ebay to see what is shaking.
Holy cow, kinda reminds me of a certian PS3 that a certian person stood in line for two days for then couldn't sell it (one of those days was my birthday). Anywho.. I am not paying 400.00 for the thing already got soaked for 550.00 for the Wii. I think I will just wake up early on Wed and see what I can find. Not going to beat myself up if I don't get it though..
Hope all is well and you enjoy the day

This story has helped me many times in the past. It is easy to understand and easy to figure out how to use.
